What is Acid Rain?
Acid Rain is the mixture of different acids in the atmosphere and has existed for millions of years as carbonic acid. Carbonic acid in the atmosphere is formed when water combines with carbon dioxide. Eventually, this breaks combines with other substances like calcium carbonate, or limestone, breaking down into calcium salt, water, and carbon dioxide again, creating rock formations. However, for about the last century, different forms of Acid Rain have formed, with the introduction of sulfur dioxide into the atmosphere, which when mixed with water, creates sulfuric acid. This sulfuric acid and carbonic acid then form what we refer to as modern Acid Rain. Since then, Acid Rain has damaged our ecosystems and even ourselves.
