While acid rain damages our plant life in forests and farms, it can also hurt the wildlife of certain areas. Being full of highly toxic materials, Acid Rain can poison wildlife causing great harm. Like stated earlier, acid rain will damage rivers and streams, but not only does it damage our water and soil deposits, it can also damage our sea life. Some aquatic animals only have a certain amount of pH that their bodies can withstand before they either get injured or die. The issue with this is when certain animals die of this in these rivers and streams, their bodies are then filled with toxic chemicals, and when other animals or even humans try and devour the dead animals, the chemicals are passed onto them, causing even more deaths.
The aquatic animals are just the bottom of the barrel though, for other animals can be harmed by Acid Rain. Quite literally, animals can be rained on by the acids, causing their skin to burn, and can even result in their deaths. While some animals have large fur coats that will absorb the chemicals, some do not, and like with the rivers and streams, when other animals go to eat the other dead animals, they also get infected. So, this process will just continue on for quite some time.
Finally, there is human health. Acid Rain looks, feels, and tastes just like clean rain, however it can cause major issues. Walking in acid rain, or even swimming in an acid lake, is no more dangerous than walking or swimming in clean water. "However, the pollutants that cause acid rain—sulfur dioxide (SO2) and nitrogen oxides (NOx)—do damage human health." (U.S. EPA, "Effects of Acid Rain - Human Health"). Scientist have researched and found that high amounts of these gaseous acids have been directly linked to premature deaths due to heart and lung disorders like bronchitis and asthma. While ingesting pure Acid Rain may not directly kill you, it can cause you to get very ill. In cases with young children or older adults however, it can cause deaths.
